In the "Martin Luther King, Jr: Mini Research Assignment" students will be able to deepen their understanding of MLK, Jr. through the following activities in an independent Google Slides activity:

1. Activating Prior Knowledge

• Student Choice video:

               *(1): MLK, Jr. and the SCLC (crash course, 13 min)

               *(2) Origin of MLK, Jr. Day (how he get a national holiday, 10 min)

               *Students will then write down 1 thing they learned, 1 thing they                       found interesting, and 1 new question that they have.

2. Mini Research Assignment

• Students will select an MLK quote that they find most interesting

• Will research when, where, and why the quote was said

• Explain what they think the central idea was behind the quote

• And then, will connect the message to their lives today
